I have been an iphone owner since February of 08' and a .mac account holder since February of 07'. .mac is obviously now .me and the mail part is driving me nuts!!

The only time "push" works is right after I do a complete restart on my phone. I called and talked with applecare tech support and was literally told to just restart my phone. Yes, let me pay for a product and service and to get it to work properly I must shut down and restart every time I want to use it???

Anyhow, I was given no solution so I figured I would try here. I have posted a picture of my .mac (.me) address to show you exactly what I am getting.

Just so you know, it does not matter if I am connected to wi-fi or on the edge network. It will continue to spin and show the "connecting" at the bottom of the screen. I have received absolutely zero help from tech support so I am hoping I can receive some support on this great forum.

thanks in advance.

I am having the same problem.... and I also came here to find some help. Sorry I can't lend any at the moment, but at least you know you are not alone. My brother in Washington is having the same issue.

still no resolution

I spent over two hours with tech support and still have no resolution. Funny how Apple.com does not give you a chance to review me.com software. I received an email of things to try and did all of them with no resolution.

Same with my phone trying to receive mail from my pop account. Turning on and off solved it but I don't fancy having to do that often! Hopefully this will get fixed in an update.

Ditto that worked for me too ;)

Yeah, that works for me too, but what kind of a solution is that? Rebooting every time you want to get your emails?? I've had to reboot my IPhone 5-6X/Day just to get emails in.

Has Apple acknowledged to anyone that this is a problem, or are they simply brushing people off by telling them to reboot their phones??

IMO, that's no solution, and I hope they are working on a fix.

After I did the hard reset the problem stopped completely. I haven't had to reset the phone since.

Ok, I have a solution (thanks to an Apple tech) that has worked for me for 2 days, no problem!

He told me it was a conflict between "push" and "fetch" on the IPhone. At first I thought he was full of crap, but I tried it, and it's been working PERFECTLY since (no reboots)

Go into SETTINGS and under FETCH NEW DATA, make sure PUSH is ON and make sure FETCH is on "MANUALLY". He told me that when both are activated as automatic is causes freeze issues.

Well, all is well! Now all I do is click on the MAIL icon and everything comes flooding in each time. Sure , it doesn't do it automatically from the main screen, but big deal, either way you have to go into your mail screen to read them!!

That actually is a big deal. You shouldn't have to do that, and I am not aware of anyone who had a first generation iPhone had this difficulty until they updated their firmware.

There is a thread with nearly 250 posts about this in the Apple support forum, here.

Ahh, I thought I was the only one. Mine was set to automatic and mail was just not working today, just sitting there Connecting.......

I hope they resolve this with an update because the only way to fix it for me was to power it off and back on. :(

I understand what you're saying. The only point I'm making is that it's much more "convenient" to have it set up this way then to have to reboot the phone every time I want my emails.. It's still a PITA, but until they find a fix I'll live with it.
