I have to say I am not very impressed with 2.0. When I open up my work email (or any mail) which is an exchange type email system it says connecting on the bottom. Usually on the top you can see the spinning cursor. It never happens so it never connects and gets the mail. I hit the circle arrow at the bottom left corner and still nothing happens.

The only way to even remotely fix it is to reboot. This is a temporary fix since it occurs a few hours later again.

I'm having the same problem on the 3G phone. Everything worked fine for the first couple of days, but since yesterday I have not been able to send or receive mail in any of my accounts (my ISP POP account, my gmail account and my MobileMe account).

When I select one of the messages that's already on the phone, it is able to download the rest of that message (for example, an advertisement email, it can download all the text, pictures, etc.), so it must be connecting to do that, right? But when it's trying to get or send new messages, it just spins and spins.

I'm having the same problem. Had the first iPhone for a year and never had any email problems. The 3g iPhone this weekend worked okay and then it began not working today. I just keep getting a note that says the phone is trying to connect. Finally, after rebooting and fiddling around, I got it to connect but then it can't find the email. All the settings have remained the same. I have it set up to manually get the email.

Now it just keeps saying "Checking for Mail . . ." I have a gmail account and a pop account and I'm getting the same errors on both servers.

I did reboot the system. I then got one email before the system quit working again. I initially thought it was AT&T, but I connect on my wi-fi network at home and the same thing happens. In fact, I can log in to gmail via the internet and get the email.

Any ideas??

I have been having the same problems. It works for a while and then just connects FOREVER.

I have found one thing that "resets" the email so that it works.

Settings - General - Reset - Reset All Settings

This does not fix the problem, but once it is done, mail works for awhile.

What a hassle. It doesnt delete music or movies and doesnt delete mailboxes but you have to re-enter WiFi keys and other minor settings.

This has to be a bug. How did this slip past?
