my iPhone microphone doesn't work..but audio is recording in video and playing fine...but in voice memo and other microphone based app mic is not working...I had a history where there was contact of water near microphone(not immersed in water)

Now I found another thing Intresting...Microphone works perfectly well in calls , video, skype ,viber etc but not in Siri, voice memo and other microphone based app!!

I read in another forum because I'm having the same issue with my iPhone 6 plus. When I have the phone on speaker during a phone call they can't hear me, but I still have the original plastic cover on my phone because I just got the phone 2 days ago, well when I remove the plastic I can be heard, what I heard was that there's a mic above the screen and above the ear part, and another mic on the bottom next to the headphone jack, so if you have the plastic in try removing it and see if that fixes the problem.

Mine is IPhone 4s....it was working fine before...another update to my problem..the microphone works well only on loudspeaker mode in every app I mentioned!!And doesn't work when put in normal mode..

iPhone has two microphones, one for making calls and the other for video recording and noise cancellation. Guess your calls work on speakerphone because this utilizes the secondary microphone. There is a tutorial somewhere on ifixit.com to fix this symptom.

I've only had my iPhone 6 plus for less than a week and already I'm having issues with the Mic when I put my phone on speaker during a conversation they can't hear me unless I use a Bluetooth or just put the phone up to my ear to talk. I'm also having problems with my display, the screen freezes up completely and I'm also missing the Mic when I text someone so I can send a voice message. Does anybody know if this is a hardware or software issue. I've already did a restore twice and no luck. So I'll pr need to go back to the Apple Store, and hope they don't give me a refurbished phone since mine is new.

I would bring it to Apple, you're still under the 1 year warranty.
They will replace the phone.

Well easy fix if your you can't be heard and still have the factory plastic still on your phone. Remove the plastic and problem fixed. I took my iPhone 6 plus into the Apple Store and that was the solution to fixing my problem, and now I have no issues. In case your wondering there are 3 Mic's on the phone one next to the headphone plug, one next to the ear where you listen, and one on the back of the phone between the camera & light.
