In iOS 18 I set up my iPhone to use iPhone Mirroring with my Mac and set up auto-authentication. At that point I could connect to my iPhone any time I wanted even if I restarted the phone or Mac.

In iOS 18.1, any time I restart my iPhone or Mac, I need to re-connect my iPhone to my Mac by entering my passcode on my iPhone. I can then connect automatically until the next time I restart either. Anyone have the same issue or know how to fix this?

At this point I’m rebooting either my Mac or iPhone at least once or twice a week because of odd bugs in iOS 18. Once iOS becomes more stable, hopefully by next spring or summer I might reboot once a month.

Considering iPhone mirroring only works on Wi-Fi, requires entering the iPhone passcode to set up and lets you know on the iPhone what devices mirrored the iPhone and how long this doesn’t seem like a security feature. It seems like a bug, especially since iPhone notifications still show up on the Mac after a restart without having to re-link the Mac and iPhone.

Fair points. I think the best bet for getting the behavior changed is sending feedback to Apple

Noticing this behavior as well. It's weird, I've been using Sequoia and iOS 18 since public release but this is the first I've really noticed this. Is this the same behavior for everyone - the iPhone needs you to authenticate with passcode every time if you want to start iPhone Mirroring after a reboot? Gotta reflect the question above - what's the point then of automatic authentication settings?

I've found sometimes it requires me to authenticate after restarting and sometimes it doesn't. Haven't found a pattern.
