Any time I go to use this I have to unlock my iPhone which of course means I need to (usually) get up and go pick it up. It kind of defeats the whole purpose of being able to access your iPhone without having to go get it....

It was working perfectly fine in the betas but now I need to go get my phone to unlock it. I very rarely restart my iPhone or Mac. It's only when there is a software update then it reboots.

What a joke. Get it fixed Apple. They've seriously gone downhill with software with iOS 18

Is there some setting you may have missed? I have an iPhone 13 Pro Max and with my phone "dark", when I launch iPhone Mirroring, about 5" later, I am looking at the home page on my iPhone.

Do this. Launch iPhone Mirroring on your Mac, to to its settings and be sure it is set like this:

Working fine for me too. Are you sure your iPhone wasn't in a state where it requires a passcode to unlock (too many failed FaceID attempts, cancelling a shutdown, no passcode entered within the past 6.5 days, etc.)?

Next time you go to use iPhone Mirroring, check your phone first to see if it's already requiring the passcode to unlock. Might help narrow down the problem.
