Well, I can't seem to get a straight answer from AT&T or Apple. :(

Maybe someone here can help me?

I want to start a new account when/if I buy an iPhone but I want to increase my text messages.

My current AT&T SMS plan is the 200 Messaging Starter + Unlimited Mobile to Mobile Texting for $9.99/month.

Messaging Starter w/Unlimited Mobile to Mobile Messaging $9.99 a month
Messaging Starter - 200 Messages (10 cents/additional messages)
You have the freedom to message any way to any one - text, picture, video and IM - without worrying what each message costs. That means every message counts the same. You can send and receive ANY combination of messages. Want to send all picture messages? No problem. All IMs? Go ahead and chat away - send and receive messages for less than 3 cents each!

UNLIMITED Mobile to Mobile - Unlimited text, picture & video messages
Now AT&T's wireless subscribers can exchange unlimited text, picture and video messages! Instant Messages, alerts, off-network, premium messages, and messages to/from non-AT&T customers will be deducted from your Messaging Starter allowance.

Can I add the Messaging Starter (200 messages) + UNLIMITED Mobile to Mobile Messaging plan to a new iPhone monthly plan?

i don't think you can add an existing feature like that. You can get the phone plan for whatever you decide, e.g., $79, $99, etc, and this includes the mobile to mobile and 200 text. If you are an existing customer you there is a separate plan were you can keep phone service and add the data plan for something like $20.

I just went through this ordeal. In order to get unlimited texts you need to change your data plan it comes out to be $40 for unlimited data and texts.
