I was stunned to find out that my iPhone mounts as an actual hard drive under my Vista Business laptop but with the Macs it's no dice to read it as an external hard drive?

Any ideas what is going on? :) I find it strange that the iPhone gets fracked on Vista OS of all things!!!

It shows up as a camera would; you can copy pictures from it but not onto it and also you cannot see anything else from the iphone other than the pictures...

In WinXP it semi mounts, in that the camera does and allows you access to the photo files from within the "My Computer" window.

Are you seeing access to anything other than the camera?

Officially mine comes up listed as Apple Iphone and is listed under Scanners and Cameras.

For details it says 3 photos taken, 8031 remaining (heh!).

You cannot drag and drop anything to this iPhone camera folder, nor can you paste anything.

So why in mac os x do we not get the iphone mounting as a separate drive then? Sobe, I got the same thing as you got with only the photos readable.
