Hello,

I plan on purchasing a new iPhone and was wondering about a few things. Will i be able to sync or retreive work email from my MS exchange server via WIFI? I do not plan on purchasing a data plan (in canada, they are abhorrently expensive), so i plan on only checking emails from wifi hotspots. Does anybody know if this will work?

Thanks for any input.

I am also interested. I would like to use an iphone just with the voice plan, and use wifi for other features (I have wifi and home and office where I spend most of my time).

That question can only be answered by your IT dept.
The iPhone is capable of checking any email over WiFi.
Your company is the one that determines if you can or can't.

rjhonstone is right. this is a IT issue.
the corporate MS exchange server needs to be setup to allow Outlook web access (OWA) which allows email access with a web browser (and most servers are from the get-go)
PLUS your email mailbox needs to be setup to allow OWA (takes 1 click to IT guy). if you can currently access your email with a browser you will with the iphone via wifi.
active sync is a little bit more difficult, it also involves mailbox setup to allow activesync (takes 1 click to IT guy) BUT it also involves installing authentification certificates in the iphone that can take several minutes.

great. I use my mac's browser at home to access my work email - so hopefully this should work.

My IT guy at work is really anti-mac. It's kinda childish.
