I've just ditched Apple Music getting into my old music library.

I do sync entire music library which works beautifully the first time but then any future re syncs like if I update a playlist it then lists all soundtrack/various artist album info into separate tracks for each album and it looks a mess.

any ideas around this?

Subscribe to iTunes Match for $25/yr. It gives you all the iCloud music sync from Apple Music but just for your own music. Works great!

I have thought about that but what about my lossless rips of music? Does that match them 256 quality from itunes
Store?

It does. But on the plus side, it also matches any existing lower-quality music at 256 bit when possible. I had music that I'd ripped from CD many, many years ago when I used 128-bit due to storage limitations and they sounded noticeably better after iTunes Match.

You'll still have your lossless on the computer.
