I'm well aware of installer.app and all the hacks out there for the iPhone, but what I wanted to know is... what are the developers using to program the native apps and how do you get your program onto installer.app

I really want to make a shot at programming a new aim/trillian style client for the iphone cause while the ones that are out are useful, they just don't come to par.... they need to act like meebo.com does on the iphone but at native speeds... and they should have a program built into them to keep the edge signal always alive so that navigating away from the program doesn't boot you from aim etc...

1. Wait until February when the official SDK is out from Apple.
2. What's wrong with MobileChat or Apollo?
3. EDGE is not like your standard wifi.
4. EDGE always on KILLS the battery in a couple of hours. I use mcolloquy, and dear god, my battery dies after about 4 hours of use, even when mcolloquy is in the background but didn't disconnect from any of my IRC channels. That's if I don't get disconnected for making a call. Or I lose the signal cause I drove under a bridge and I left IRC on while commuting from A to B.

So are you really sure you want to know now?

yes but like on phones like Razr's etc... you cant get those phones to sign off aim lol ... no matter what ur doing or when ur doing it you can be on aim in the background...and whenever you get an im it just sends it to the phone...not through SMS either but through the aim program...

and go to meebo.com on your iphone and see how their stuff is setup, with icons for what service is being used, wether or not they are on a mobile account, computer aim, or what not....and much more clear status with away message symbols that pop up and italized/grayed out names for idle and away, and 1 or 2 line of text of an away message...

i just think with people out there able to program things like an NES emulator with a virtual keypad... making a fully functional trillian style client should be a piece of cake

and even though the SDK is coming out in february, why would it hurt to know how it's done...get a head start?
