Hi, I'm just a jealous australian reading up on the ipad until it gets out here later in the month. I did have a couple of questions...I've been reading that the native iphone apps look pretty bad on the ipad, but how about the higher end ones like Tiger Woods, Monopoly and Madden? Also, has any one tried Stanza? I have around 15 books ready for the ipad and haven't seen that much on how well stanza performs.

I can tell you that monopoly for the iPhone looks pretty awful on the iPad, any iPhone app on the iPad looks just terrible in my opinion, especially when compared to the new iPad-specific apps. That's why I only have native iPad apps and universal apps on my iPad now.
A lot of them look fine. There is a 2x button that enlarges them to full screen.
I've used Doodle Jump and Things and both just fine.
Clearly a little fuzzy and no where near as nice as pad apps but still highly functional.

They iPhone apps are usable, but you don't get the full experience of the iPad (obviously). They don't look great when you run them in 2x mode because they seem a bit pixellated. This is especially true when looking at text. The apps with graphics I find to be a bit better.
But overall, they work just the same (but faster).

Today I took off all my iPhone optimized apps except for Facebook, the Lightsaber, and 2 simple graphic games. After using iPad optimized apps, using iPhone optimized apps look and act plain in comparison already even if they looked perfect.
I am glad iTunes identifies Universal apps so I don't have test each app on my iPad. Fuzzy iPhone apps is the dirty little secret about the iPad.

Actually, I did the same thing. The only iPhone App I have on my iPad is Wallet. That's only because I have A LOT of stuff populated in there and it has a Mac version that syncs to it. Just too much time invested.
