Hi folks,

on the market for a 3GS which i'm finally gonna take the plunge with.

Was just wondering if there was anyone, ideally in the Edinburgh area, that could shed some feedback on how their chosen network has fared them?

I was leaning towards o2 atm... since i'm not overly keen on Orange's download limit... but feedback from users of all networks (including any past experiences with voda) would be most helpful.

Cheers! :D

i think if you go into the 02 store, they can do various post code checks and they will tell you what you service is like. Maybe there is a way to do this online

Indeed that is true...

but what i'm after is people's own personal experiences with whoever they're with... the marketing and salesmanship of a network's website and stores can go so far ;)

I groan whenever someone tells me they'll do a postcode check - it's all so much bollocks as far as I'm concerned. Especially since I'm buying a mobile.

I know 3 don't have the iPhone (yet) but incase you ended up unlocking - don't touch 3 with a barge pole in either Edinburgh or Glasgow. Awful reception, horrible customer service. Can't say enough bad things about them :p

Vodafone seems to be the best, but I've never personally had a contract with them because they're more expensive. If you're not bothered by the price though they seem a sound bet.

O2's my favourite. Decent prices, constant signal (really good 3G, Edge coverage is variable though)

T-Mobile's signal (again not an iPhone carrier, but just in case) is almost always constant, but there was the odd dead spot with them I didn't have with O2. Better deals sometimes, but no Edge on their network at all.

I'm not a fan of Orange at all really. Their deals are never all that good and their signal's not as good as O2 or T-Mobile. I know people that are quite happy with Orange though, I just don't think they're worth what they charge.

I'm an Edinburgh resident :) In the last 3 years I've changed my carrier about once every 6 months - O2's definitely my favourite though. They're who I'm back with now

Haha, it's three I'm going to be getting away from so I can get my iPhone...

I'm sooo not looking forward to the long phone call to Customer Services.

But that's some awesome info. Cheers! :D
