Hi guys i hope someone can help

i have just got an iphone regastered with itunes and have my tempary number and all and it says ' no service'

every time i turn the phone on and off it says 'waiting for activation' but it said earlier that i need a signal to complete activation or something onto this

now i have only had the phone around 4 hours.

and my normal phone has full 02 service on it

is this normal/ will i just wait or any way to fix it?

im currently running the upgraded softwhere 1.14

I have experienced exactly the same problem. New iPhone. No signal. O2 phone next to it, full signal.

Not sure what the problem is.

One rumor was to restore factory settings, but this did nothing.

Another rumor was that apple/o2 were aware of a fault and were replacing phones on a case by case basis.

I'll post more if I find an answer.

I'm in exactly the same situation, bought a new iPhone, activated through iTunes but phone says Activation Alert: No signal detected. Signal is required to complete activation.

Has anyone called O2's dedicated iPhone team on 08706072302 for some help ? You can also call 2302 free from your iPhone but I know this isn't an option for the ones that have "no service". If they can't help you and it is still within 14 days of purchase you can exchange it for another at an Apple Store.

It took over 24 hours for my phone to activate. I regularly reset my phone using the 2 button method, as the phone seemed to not refund any signal after it timed out. Just before I went to the O2 store, I hard reset one more time, and full signal and activated. This seems to indicate not finding a signal after a time out was reached.

Sent from my iPhone.

You've just completed the first stages...

You need to phone O2/iPhone division to activate it (your 3G sim card) totally (have your iPhone's and SIM card's barcode/serial numbers ready -- printed on your initial letter you got from O2) FROM ANOTHER LANDLINE or MOBILE first to get a signal! They'll then activate everything from their dedicated call centre. Takes 2-3 mins max. It's very slick actually.

Direct line is 0870 607 2302 (sorry, I've no 0800 equivalent of this).

Your iPhone will work after you do this.

When I bought my iPhone 3G at launch day, I had to wait over 1 week before it was activated.

I'm pretty sure they usually say your phone gets activated within 24 Hours.

Hmm, on my original iPhone, I did home activation and it was working within a hour. Upgraded iPhone to iPhone 3G and it was instantaneous as well.
