I have a pwned 2G iphone and everything was working fine until today when i tried to sync the phone. itunes won't detect the damn phone. Ive tried different cables and different computers as well. The wall charger also doesnt seem to detect the phone. However, my Bose dock works fine. Any ideas?

I went ahead and tried to restore. I tried to put it into DFU (power+home 10sec, home 10sec etc) the screen stayed blank. I tried to turn it on afterwards but i got no response. I tried it again 20 minutes later and it turned on (thank god). Can anyone tell me what i can try to fix this? Are there any alternate ways to restore this thing?

The bose dock uses an auxiliary pin on the flex cable, unlike the charge/sync pins on other parts of the flex cable. If you've got some "brass one's" you can try my DIY here. Normally it would just be a usb problem with the computer, but since it doesn't accept the wall charger it is absolutely the flex cable.

That is way too hard too do. Thanks for the suggestion though. I honestly hope that its not a hardware problem. I think the Bose dock must have messed up the phone's software somehow. Now, nothing recongnizes the phone except for the Bose dock (ie thats the only place i can charge it). I'm trying to figure out a way to reset or restore the phone. Is there any way to do this without having to connect to a computer?

Update: the phone has started to really act up. Still can't connect to itunes, etc. In addition, everytime i wake the phone from sleep a message pops up saying something along the lines of "accessory not compatible with phone.. blah blah airplane mode..". Also, the phone will not turn off. When i try to turn it off, it stays off for like 2 seconds before it turns back on by itself. Once in a while the phone would also get extremely hot. It seems like just a matter of time before this phone completely dies. Of course, i am extremely disapointed. Looks like i will have to switch to the crackberry route
