Today I updated my iPhone 8 to iOS 12, and my MacBook Air to High Sierra. Now my iPhone does not appear in iTunes when I connect the device, even though the haptic feedback occurs when connecting and the phone shows the lightning bolt by the battery indicating a charge is taking place.

My computer seems to recognize my iPhone, but not iTunes. Any idea how to fix that?

Try unlocking your phone with fingerprint/passcode. It's supposed to give you a message saying to do so but maybe the message isn't showing up.

It doesn't seem to be a passcode, or a Trust issue with the device. I reset the settings on the phone for Trusting the computer, and enabled a passcode. No luck.

Photos app on the Mac recognizes my iPhone, but iTunes still does not. iTunes is current at 12.8. Definitely seems to be an iTunes issue.

Reinstalled iTunes (even though it was the same version), I think a carrier setting needed to be updated. That took a minute to install, but it's all good now.
