Is there a limit to how many texts the app can show? I am using the same sms database from the iPhone 3G (I've updated every iteration since then and taken my messages with me). If I view the texts with a viewer program on my computer, I can see the older texts, which means they are IN the database, just the application on the phone doesn't go through them all.

However viewing them with the messages application does not show messages after a certain number (I don't know the exact amount but i'd say a hundred or so?). Does everybody's phone do this? Not a big deal, just wondering if it was because i've preserved my messages from several phones back.

EDIT: I should mention the behavior. I can only tap "Load previous messages' so many times before it does not let me. I know however there ARE more messages because if I view them using a third party program on my computer, I can see earlier messages.

Weird I had some messages from a person that span over a year and I have been able to get all the way to the first message now granted the phone started to fun a bit slower the older the messages got.

I can't say, as I have only had an iPhone for about half a year. Sometimes I delete a conversation.

I'd like to know why anyone would save a bunch of text messages.

It doesn't seem to be time based to me, rather the number of messages that can be displayed.

I'd like to know why anyone would save a bunch of text messages.

I'd like to know why you care.
