I have a particular setup where I put my Apple Watch on do not disturb for the entire day and instead have my iPhone receive all notifications - set to pop up so that it wakes/shows up on my iPhone lock screen with every notification. I'm a heavy notification user so I rather have it all on my phone than ping it constantly on my Apple Watch.
I noticed that last Friday, after updating to the latest firmwares for my iPhone 15 Pro and Apple Watch (18.0.1), this notification setup I have is broken and now my iPhone does not wake on the lock screen with its notifications I have my Apple Watch on and unlocked. The iPhone still gets the notifications but my screen does not turn on ever while I have the Apple Watch. Once I removed my Apple Watch on my wrist (locked), notifications will wake my iPhone locks screen as normal.
Anyone else encounter this? I assume it's a bug but when I did a chat with Apple Support, they said this is normal behavior. I've used this setup for years so no way it is normal...and if it is, I'm going to stop using my Apple Watch. I have to keep the Apple Watch locked in order to have notifications pop up on my locked iPhone screen...having a locked Apple Watch is going to be no use for me.
