Ok so i have gotten hold of an iphone 3g.

It has never been connected via usb to a computer. The guy charged the iphone and that is it.

Now at the moment, when i turn the iphone on the main menu comes on with contacts, calculator, sms etc etc etc, but it wants me to insert a sim card.

so i have an o2 contract simcard that i have been using with my nokia, when i put it in the iphone it just says NO SERVICE.

Do i need to connect the iphone to itunes for the first time or something?

:( help thank you

You say you "have gotten hold of an iphone", so I guess it didn't come through O2 or Apple.

Is it a UK phone, or did it come from another country originally?

Got it working now.

Dad is good friends with the managing director of o2  so yeah its a full uk version

iPhone 3G works with ANY o2 SIM.

All you have to do is insert it and connect to iTunes and it will work.
