I'm planning on getting an iPhone this weekend but have a question about the credit check. Without really thinking I applied for a contract with Vodafone about 6 weeks ago, (a day after moving house,) and failed the check as there was absolutley nothing tying me to the new address. Since then I have changed to the new address with my bank/orange phone as well as having utilities and electoral role at the new address. Will this mean my record is clear or will I be held back by the fail a couple of months ago? Thanks

Are you going to do this online or instore

The only thing with the electoral roll is that I think its only updated once per yer.

If you have your bank details and other bills registered to your new address than you might be ok. Its hard to say what they use as there criteria.

Credit Checks in the UK no longer go by the address history or the actions of people living there in the past.

Credit Checks are now performed on the person named and the only time address is required would be if applying for credit where you are required to provide 3 or more years of address information should you have lived at your present address for less than 3 years.

It's a common misconception these days that the actions of people living in a house before you moved in affects your credit rating. In the past yes, blacklisted addresses caused problems, which is why the credit scoring system was altered.
