Carrier iPhone on Google Fi?

AF - you might want to check out howardforums.com. They have a section dedicated to Google Fi.
My understanding is that iPhones on Google Fi will only work on T-Mobile's network, they can't flip over to Sprint when coverage is better. Because of this Mint Mobile may be a better alternative.
Another option would be to see if you can get on Sprint's kickstarter program. Sprint now roams on T-mobile's network. It would function similar to Google Fi.

I’ve been using it the past week and it’s terrible.
The moment I activated it (new number, did not port), it has been non stop robo calls and texts. The visual voicemail has to go through the Google Fi App and doesn’t always transcribes messages. SMS messages were initially flaky but worked themselves out.
I have already canceled it and am using a T-Mobile pre paid sim for the moment. The coverage still sucks, which depletes my battery, but no spam calls or message so far.

My friend and his brother are in Florida now, both have Pixel 3's and no issues with Fi, even when they come back to NJ to visit service is fine.
Two places I visit frequently.
Maybe I should just get hubs to get a new line and try it for a month.
I'd say try it out, it seems fine with Androids, especially Pixel phones. I've actually talked with my friend about Fi, and he's all about it. He was my go to tech guy for a while, so he's quite savvy, and he loves it. His bill has decreased significantly since switching as well. I thought about switching myself now that iPhones are supported, but like stated above, I've read about issues with iPhones and Fi at this point. I'm in north NJ, and here Verizon has the best coverage, but my monthly bill is ridiculous.
So I ordered a Pixel 3a XL that arrives Monday. I plan to use it for 2 months before deciding if I should move our plan from T-mobile. We have had T-mobile close to 16 years. I am happy with the T-mobile and iPhone XS max. But in the southwest part of the state which I travel infrequently I do not get any signal. Moreover, I travel international frequently and a Google Fi would be of great use. The question for me though will be, should I use Pixel or an iPhone on the Google Fi service. I will know the answer in 2 months. Until then, I will keep two phones and two service plans.
