I've posted about the availability of the iPhone in Canada before based on conversations that I've had with a friend that works in the company. They've told me today that Rogers will be carrying the iPhone, apparently the info has been released internally to certain departments and it should appear on the Rogers website as 'Coming Soon' within the next couple of weeks. No official date as of yet but (as I said several months ago) late October is still apparently their target date.
This really should come as no surprise, the iPhone won't be on Telus or Bell without some sort of change to the antenna on the iPhone, but it's good to hear internal news that it's actuall official. People won't believe me, but this is just what I've been told. It's consistent with all of the other info I've posted on this and that my friend has heard from internal memos and notes.

Did they mention from whether it would be the same version as the American one or it would have 3G or anything?

I think their wording was along the lines of "most likely edge". From what they heard (only about north america) apple was going to get this first rev out with staggered releases (obviously.. we didn't get it in Canada at the same time as the US) but any future revisions would be released at the same time. Regardless, unless you live in the golden horseshoe area ontario you're out of luck with 3G anyways with Rogers service.
My personal opinion based on reading these forums (probably too much) and other speculation about the iPhone releases as well as the info my friend has given me from Rogers, we'll probably get it before Christmas (late october) in Canada (EDGE version), with a 3G version launching in early 2008 in Europe and in Can/US. They could have an EDGE and 3G version for sale at the same time. At least in Canada it makes sense. People in TO can buy the 3G and everyone else can buy the EDGE... I guess.
