Hi all,
I own an iPhone X and thoroughly enjoy it; this question is not from me, but one of my friends is growing tired of some of the limitations of her 2018 budget Android (Samsung J Series).
She finds it to be painfully slow, and it's developing dead spots in one of the corners of the screen in spite of replacing the screen. So wants to get something that will last (Build quality and longevity). My current thoughts are to suggest a refurbished iPhone 8, but she is a student and working to a budget of around £300 so that is out of the question.
What low cost options would you recommend? I have not looked outside of the Apple ecosystem since 2009 so please enlighten me with all options welcome! I am trying to go against my default response of the X or above as it's far beyond the budget!
TL;DR?: What would you suggest that is:

TL;DR?: What would you suggest that is:
- Around a budget of £300
- Light usage, minimal games (Jazzy solitaire with animations and such)
- Build quality and longevity
- Acceptable battery life for a day at University
