iPhone or another smart phone?

Hi, now the iPhone is coming out on Tesco mobile I have a great interest in it.

Im wondering if it will be good for me, i have heard that its more of a business mans phone rather than college student. Will there be 1000's of apps to suit me?
I have heard lots of talk about iTouch being a gaming device, is the iPhone also good for gaming in this way?

My friend warned me off getting and iPhone as he has recently got a larger windows phone which does look very nice, why would I get an iPhone over this?

Also after my years contract is up will I be able to get the iPhone unlocked from Tesco mobile? Is there anything else I should know about iPhone?

Ha, my ex used to have a Windows Mobile phone and now he has an iPhone, which he loves a lot more. For me Windows Mobile is a lot more of a business man's phone. I really dislike that whole OS.

Bar a couple of people everyone I know with an iPhone is a university student, and there're so many apps it's unreal. You'll definitely find an app for most of the things you want to do.

The iPod Touch is basically the iPhone without the phone. The iPhone 3GS can be used as a gaming device if you want to. If you jailbreak it there's even a hack so you can play old PS1 games (although I tend to stick to old Sega games)

O2's started unlocking iPhones, I expect Tesco will do the same. If not you can always unlock with Blackrain or Pwnage Tool.

Apart from anything else, there'll probably be a trial period. If you don't like the iPhone you can just return it.

I think you'll be able to do a lot more with the iPhone. I switched from a BlackBerry and I'd never go back.

Business phone? Nope. It can be used in that capacity but that's prob not the typical iPhone user. With 100,000 apps I'm pretty sure you could find a few you like. Jailbreaking a 3gs makes it the "perfect" phone for me..... iPhone does, stealing the droid catch phrase. It really comes down to which phone YOU want..... no one on a forum can tell you which phone you would like, that goes for your friend too. Go into a store and mess around with the 3gs, then run and check out other phones that pique your interest. Good luck with your choice, if it's the right phone for you then you made the right decision.

If you fancy something different, the Motorola Milestone has just been released sim-free in the UK running on Android 2.0.

Was thinking of getting one as a go-between until the next iphone is released, as my 3G contract is about to expire.

I switched from a Blackberry to iPhone awhile back, then switched back to a Blackberry Bold and an iPod Touch. I often type multi-paragraph emails and the Blackberry is so much better at that. I feel I have the best of both worlds because the iPod Touch allows me to have access to all the cool Apps while the Blackberry allows me to use my Smartphone as a superior business device.

To me, the iPhone is also like an mobile extension of my MacBook. Contacts, calendar, emails, web browser bookmarks, all synchronize from iPhone to the Mac's Address Book, iCal, Mail, and Safari. This is a huge timesaver! Most likely, other smart phones cannot do all of these as seamlessly.

Your thinking about getting a wm device over an iPhone ? I think you need help. Go and waste your money on a second rate phone. Then come back on here when you've got the iPhone.
