iPhone OS 4, Google Latitude in the background with Safari?

Anyone with iPhone OS 4 installed able to check if Google Latitude keeps updating in the "background" now with Safari left open?

I'm guessing Google will have to make some changes to the webpage to support this or release a new app, but miracles happen sometimes:D.
