Touching your music...never thought it would be this great. When Steve Jobs mentioned it in his keynote, i didn't realise its potential and now that i have had first hand experience, the idea of going back to my iPod 5.5G make me cringe a little. The thought of using the clickwheel just makes me really uncomfortable and this just after 72 hours of use! I know that i'm losing out on the 30Gig capacity, but for most intents and purposes, i believe 8GB is more than enough unless you are away from your computer for extended periods of time which is highly unlikely. I just don't see the point of having an iPod anymore; is it just me or does anyone else here feel the same?

Cheers.

I'm happily not using my nano. I already got use to having a large music collection and a small ipod (my nano only had 4 gigs).

I just make a playlist to sync to with my favorites ... besides with over 12,000 songs in my library having everything would just be annoying.

Since I already carry my phone with me wherever I go, I just remember to grab my headphones if I plan on using the ipod part. Since I already keep them in my car it makes it even easier to remember :p

I've already fallen in love with the new headphones ... the mic button is so handy. Can't wait until shure comes out with a iphone set with similar functionality.

Shure already has an iPhone compatible headset.

I only put 1 playlist on my iPhone- I may put another. My iPod video was and will continue to be my car's stereo.- gotta love solid car integration. My iPod shuffle will still be my gym iPod, as I really don't like to bring my phone to the gym. My iPhone will be the only iPod I take on bike rides, though.

I don't think I'll completly stop using my iPod nano. I don't have a very large music collection (4gigs) so I can put it all on my iPhone, but some places I just don't feel safe using my iPhone. For instance when I go for a jog or use it at the gym I would be afraid of dropping my iPhone with frequent song changes.

I used my iPod last night and it did feel a little Archaic, but I have 60 gigs on my iPod, and only 6 that I want to devote to music on my iPhone.
I'll enjoy using both in different situations, and I'll enjoy the longer life of my iPods HD due to less use, but my iPods' not getting the boot any time soon.

Nope.

3G with the crap battery stays on dock in my office.

4GB Nano will still be used when riding my bike or on plane.

Why would you use a Nano on a plane when you have your iPhone with you?

I haven't purchased an iphone yet but plan to as soon as I can find an 8gb. I plan on using my 40gb 3rd gen in the car and whenever I'm away from the computer for long periods. I'll continue to use the 1st gen shuffle at the gym until it dies, then I'll probably replace it with a refurb nano.

At first I was thinking 8gb wasn't that much on the iphone, but actually I get quite a few songs on my 512mb shuffle. Also keep in mind that there will be several apps come out for the iphone including games that will start to eat away at the 8gb of storage.

The ipod stays.

I'm selling my Nano to recoup the cost of the iPhone, however, I will miss the Nike + iPod feature on it. I always did love setting the goals on nikeplus.com and trying to achieve them.

My 30 GB iPod Photo was stolen from my apartment a few days before I bought my 8 GB iPhone. So far I enjoy my iPhone much more than my old iPod.

Smaller and easier to move about plane. (I can't sit still on a plane)
Save my iPhone's battery.
Not have to demo the iPhoen to every damn gawker. :D

My 2nd gen iPod Shuffle stays in the car, connected via cassette adapter.
My 2nd gen iPod ("click wheel") stays at my desk at work.

My iPhone goes with me wherever I go.

I don't know that I'll ever use my iPhone as an iPod. I'm not sure I'd ever even carry the headset around. Maybe on rare occasions I would foresee using it as an iPod and take the headset. I use my Nano for running/gym and that's about it, so I'm not a huge portable music user anyways.

For the record here, are you referring to the MPA-3c adapter, that turns regular Shure in-ear stereo earphones (like e2c and others) into an iPhone compatible headset? The adapter includes the proper sized plug to go into the iPhone, and a small dongle with a button and mic.

Shure's press release states the MPA-3c will be available in "August".

I will get one the nanosecond it comes out. I can't for the life of me understand why Apple continues to make such crappy standard earbuds. I get severe ear pain after just 5 to 10 minutes of wearing those things. Finally, I will be able to use my much-loved in ear Shures with my iPhone (which I do now anyways with that ridiculous Belkin adapter, but I will actually be able to use the Shures for ALL iPhone functions).

And to be on-topic for this thread, NO, I will continue to use my 5G iPod, and my older 1G shuffles. I'm not likely to take a call while on the riding lawnmower, and the shuffles are better for this environment anyways (yardwork, etc). The 5G still holds lots of back-catalog stuff that won't fit on the iPhone. The iPhone gets all the "top" star-rated material, 3 recent unwatched/unlistened of each podcast and TV shows, etc.

I am thinking about selling, but I am not quite sure yet. My iPod's been in my bag unused since I was waiting in line Friday for my iPhone.

Aloha iSaint,

I have almost the same deal as you. My wife gets the 30GB iPod (I even renamed it for her), but I still get to use it in my car until Belkin makes a device like the TuneBaseFM for the iPhone (or until I get a new car with the Bluetooth system, with which the iPhone apparently works beautifully). So, it's really hers, but I still get to use it :D

:apple:HawaiiMacAddict

P.S. She also said that when iPhone v.2 comes out, I can get that one and give her my v.1 iPhone :D
