I was hoping someone can offer me a solution on how to get WinXP SP2 running in Parallels 3.0 to see my iPhone in iTunes 7.3. I selected the iPhone USB from the Parallels menu bar, but it just shows up as a camera in My Computer. Any advice on getting it to show up/sync via Parallels 3?

Maybe try starting itunes 7.3 in windows first. Then select the iphone via the usb menu. If it doesn't pop up into itunes, unplug the iphone from the mac and plug it back in. Parallels should rerecognize it. See if it pops up then. I have to do that with my windows mobile phone to get active sync to connect properly.

Edit: Just thought of something. It might be a case of the camera software takes over the iphone connection first, making it invisible to itunes. Maybe you can change the software settings to not 'auto-connect' when it sees soemthing plugged in. Just something else to try. Good luck.

Same issue / iphone not recognized with Parallels 3.0

I'm having the same issue as this user; running OSX 10.4.10 & Parallels 3.0 build 4128, the iphone appears in my USB devices list on Parallels but iTunes does not auto-launch or recognize the phone. I have the same need as previous posters. We use exchange/outlook at work though I use a mac for most other apps. If you have any inisights/workarounds for this issue please post! Thanks.

You could also maybe try using Entourage instead of Outlook (Entourage is the OSX version of Outlook that comes with Office for Mac).

Resolution / Solved

The reason for using Outlook is that Entourage cannot synch with the iPhone. Read the entire thread if you are confused. iPhone can only synch calendars and address books with Outlook on a PC. On a Mac it can use only ical & address book.

SOLUTION - first attach iPhone & make sure XP instance "sees it" and is connected to it.
1. Click Start
2. Right-click on "My Computer" icon
3. Select "Manage"
4. Click "plus" sign next to "Services and Applications"
5. Click "Service" from that dropdown
6. Click on Service named "Apple Mobile Device" and select "Restart"
7. Click on Service named "iPod Service" and select "Restart"

iTunes should start up & recognize device at this time. Next you will have to step through the sync steps to get your data merged properly.

Enjoy!

Do you happen to know if I can sync the iPhone with iTunes on the mac aide for my music and sync it also with the pc side under parallels for outlook contacts and calendars?

Sorry to Ressurrect

My boss has the new iPhone 3G and has contacts on his Parallels XP Pro VM in Outlook. We tried syncing using iTunes 7 in the XP environment and get the error 0xe8000035. Is there a way to get those contacts in the Mac environment from a .pst file? Or does anyone know how to sync their iPhone in iTunes in Parallels on XP?
