iPhone perfectionist - Dead pixels, scratch. Should I be worried?

I, am a perfectionist. I need everything to be in tip-top shape.

So I got my iPhone 3G this past December and I was really glad to finally have my hands on one. After having it for 2 months I noticed about 3 dead pixels toward the bottom of my iPhone screen. I freaked and it really pissed me off and bugged the crap outta me for that week.

So I brought it to the Apple store and they said even though the dead pixel limit is 10+ they still handed me over a new iPhone at the counter (I almost felt a little bad because the issue was so minor).

After having this brand new iPhone for a week and a half 2 small dead pixels appeared in the same spot as my old one. But the weird thing is, I can see the dead pixel when the screen is turned off, which gives me the impression that it's a scrath.

So my main question is: Should I REALLY be worried about these issues? Or should I just ignore them and be bugged until the next big Apple phone comes out? My plan right now is to bring it back to the store, get a new one and soup it up with a case and an invisible shield. Help please!

I would bring it in. You paid good money for the phone and you deserve to get a perfect iPhone like everyone else who cares enough to take it in if it's faulty. I would wait for a few more dead pixels if you can because 2 is one fifth of 10 and they might not let it slide this time. And if you have another Apple Store near you other than the one you brought it into last time then I would take it into that one just because they don't know you already exchanged it once about a week ago.:p On second thought, I think they have that on file so it doesn't really matter. Don't worry about that then.:p

I thought I had dead pixels once - but like you it was there when it was off. I used a magnifying glass, and it was clear it was smaller than a pixel. I think it was dust in the end. After a few weeks, it disappeared.

David, that was an extremely helpful answer. That's one I was looking for.

Can anyone else be of assistance?
 
Take it in, if they replace it, omg, if they dont...oh well, they arent gonna block you from ever replacing it again, so you just wait until more show up or whatever then take it in.

You are very welcome, I am glad I could be of assistance to you. I hope you can get what you want from Apple. You can always sell it online too. If you take a few hours to unlock and jailbreak it, it could go for more than you paid for it. You'd be surprised how many people are drooling over iPhones in other countries where they aren't sold. Then you could get a new iPhone and make a buck or two while you're at it!:)

Hey, guys. Went to the Apple store today and picked up a new 3G for free. Then souped of up with an incase Slider and an invsible for the screen. Thanks again for the help!
