Dear MacRumors.

My iPhone XS 64gb have got around 40gb free space.
My Photos takes up around 50gb space.

So of cause I have the "optimize storrage" feature set to on.

But this means that ALL photos are cloud based and must be "downloaded" when viewed.
this annoys me. is there anyway to make IOS use more storrage for photos?.

I don't need 40gb of free space.
if I could choose, I would have it use around 20gb for photos and then the rest "downloadable"

There is not an option which allows you to choose the 20GB Size. But I think you could try downloading the photos you want at full size locally and they would only be optimized again only as you run out of space.
