Hi guys,

Something very odd has happened today! I went to sync my iPhone 7 photos to my photos app on my Mac, but the following is happening:

* Most of the new photos are not showing on the photos app on my Mac running El Capitan.

* The videos I recorded on the iPhone 7 (running 12.1.1) are showing as being an "unsupported file" when I Import them.

I've done a restart of both my Mac and iPhone, have checked the box on Mac Photos to show 'open photos for this device'.

I did do a clean setup of the phone a couple of weeks ago, so could this be the cause?

The latest version of iOS usually requires a recent version of iTunes which only works with a fairly recent version of MacOs. El Capitan is several years old along with the iTunes version that came with it. It could be that that older software doesn't recognize the newer stuff in iOS.

Running the most recent version of iOS eventually requires you to run the recent version of MacOs that will run the recent version of iTunes- and only new hardware can usually run the latest software- so if you want to sync your up to date iPhone to your Mac, the Mac computer itself can't be ancient either. It's a constant upgrade cycle if you want the latest software.

Thanks mate, But the odd thing is that everything was running smoothly a bout 2 weeks ago. Then all of a sudden it's gone pear shaped! I'm sure it's something to do with the settings. The last thing I want to do is a clean install of iOS.
