I'm going to buy an iPhone next month, but my friends brought this issue to my attention. They said that since i use prepaid credit, or recharging credits, my iPhone will use the internet without control, and therefore suck up all my credits, if I open an app for example, and it uses the internet, can I control the internet usage? or will the apps use the internet freely without asking me and use my credits without my permission ? THX!

I know you can turn off WiFi and 3G but I dont believe you can turn off Edge. So therefore it would charge you; and no, the apps don't let you control the net usage.

However, when you first buy an iPhone and set it up on your computer, you have to choose one of the plans with internet on it.

Go to this site with your iphones safari browser and install the apn that blocks carrier data on your phone www.unlockit.co.nz/
You will only be able to connect on the internet thru wifi after you block data on your iphone.
Also you will be unable to receive MMS messages with no data account.
