Hey guys what do you think the price will be for the new 2018 iPhones because I'm seeing 2 different expected prices for this year's line up so I'm confusing.. one source (ming chi Kuo) says 6'1 inch will start at 600-700 another says 700-800

I have heard from a thread on macrumors titled iPhone price 2018 that the 6.1” iPhone will start anywhere from $600 - $800. :)

Nobody will know for sure. They could axe the 6.1” and act like they never planned to make a model that size. Kuo is your best bet for planning purposes though.

Estimating: (Base storage models)

$699.00~6.1 LCD

$899.00~5.8 OLED

$999.00~6.5 OLED

This is what I believe as well. However, the key question is what's the starting base memory? If it's 128 it's a further stealth price decrease since most people paid for the boost to 256.

That said even tho I think this is what Apple will do - $200 premium for OLED vs LCD seems still a bit high.

I think Apple will offer the lower storage models for the 6.1 LCD to keep it affordable with a lower price tag (32, 64, 128GB) and the 5.8/6.5 will be Offered in 128/256 GB.

look I'll pay whatever but:
$899 6.5 128GB = Happy Camper and I think they sell better this year. Ming put out some speculation that it might go this low but no real speculation this low.

$999 6.5 With memory 128GN-256GB (effectively the same for me)= I'll pay and be somewhat happy but I don;'t think it will sell as well.

$999 6.5 at 64GB = I think it will not sell as well and I'll be bummed I'll have to pay 100-150 for a proper memory config.

very possible on the 6.1 memory config. Some people don't use a lot of apps or storage and this would be the phone for them

Ya since Kuo said this: "Ming-Chi Kuo believes Apple will release all three new iPhones in September of 2018, with an aggressive pricing strategy. The 6.5-inch OLED device will be priced at $900 to $1,000, the 5.8-inch OLED second-generation iPhone X will be priced at $800 to $900, and the 6.1-inch LCD iPhone will be priced at $600 to $700."

$899 6.5 = Impossible

$999 6.5 128 GB = Possible

$999 6.5 256 GB = Impossible

$999 6.5 64 GB = Most Probable

Anything less than 700 is a dream that apple will never fulfill :p Range will probably be like 799-999 which is still a lot.

It can’t and won’t be $799. If they do that people would just spend another $100 and get the X 2018. It will be $649-749 tops for the 6.1.

Assuming the base model for each has the same 64gb storage:

$749.00 for 6.1 LCD

$849.00 for 5.8 OLED

$999.00 for 6.5 OLED

Compare it to their recent offerings and differentiation. The 5.8 OLED would be $150 less than the X (and better spec). The 6.5 I can even see listing for $1049 (sure hope not though) and combines the large size of the Plus models with the full screen. This would be the most attractive of all models IMO.

The 6.1 LCD is probably good enough for most people (meaning, not us geeky enthusiasts) and will sell the most units due to the price. I'm kinda surprised though they would size it between the other two. SE2 full screen size is what I had thought they would offer for their smallest.

It’s a stupid move by Apple to keep the budget iPhone to be 6.1”. They should have made it 5-5.4” X style and then that ticks more checkboxes than a 6.1” ever could.

They wouldn’t even need a separate SE 2 after that.

I feel like alot of these predictions are way to optimistic.

My guess is $750 LCD, $900 OLED, $1100 6.5" OLED

Anything less and I'll be pleasantly surprised.

As far as storage sizes go, take what you think it will be, knock it down a peg, and you'll probably be right.

LCD - 64gb
OLED - 64gb
6.5" OLED - 128gb

At those price points, I'd probably be comfortable going for a 64gb OLED at $900.

There are not too many iPad SKUs.

There are four. All different sizes. All for different purposes and audiences.
Apple has WAY too many SKUS across iPad and Mac line. If Jobs were still around - who understood product marketing- he'd cut that in half.

it's not that they are "optimistic" they are realistic given the experiment Apple tried with a super high price point was not optimal for shareholders. Was it terrible? no. But the price was too damn high to maximize profits which is their business goal.

Bingo it's why Kuo said apple wants to be aggressive on price, so by selling the 6.5 oled at 999 it will get more buyers.

Under Jobs in 2010, Apple sold 4 different iPods each with at least 2 different capacities. Products like the iPod Shuffle and Nano had 6-9 different colors.

iPad and Mac range from $329 to above $4,999. Apple does not have too many SKUs.

I believe it will stay the same pricing now. I doubt they would increase storage again from 64gb because they just upgraded the base storage last year and they will hope people jump on the 256gb version.

6.1 lcd iPhone $699

5.8 X2 $899

6.5 X plus $999

Plus $149 from the 256gb storage option.

I suspect the LCD model will follow the 32/128 GB storage model of the budget iPad. Probably $649-699 for the 32 GB. The X models will either be 64/256 GB as before or Apple will push to 128/512 GB (with 512 GB being $200 extra). I think Apple will want to shy away from the $999 price (even if it's for the X2+) so I'll predict the X2 at $849 and X2+ at $949 (with 64/256 options).

Then it won’t be $999. Which was the point I was making.

80% chance it will be $999-1049

20% chance it will be $1050 or over

1% chance it will be over $1100 (not $1099)

In all certainty the price is going to be $999 and it will come with either 64 or 128 GB for the base.

No. It won’t.

The budget iPhone will come with at least 64 GB.

And in all probability the storage sizes for all 3 iPhones are likely to be the same. At least till 256 GB.
