Supposedly the double gong was to signify fast charging is being initiated.. I have never had it do that even when fast charging my iPhone so unless it does it consistently on your device it might just be a screwy charging brick

Ah ok.
I rarely use my fast charger for this iPhone but can’t recall it doing the double when I do use that method.
