Bought an iPhone unlocked from Ebay on 9th April 2008. The spec is in my signature. All of a sudden I am getting the "Repair needed" message and the "No Service" in the top left of the screen. The phone is crashing and it sticks on things. I know I can't take it to an Apple store because it is unlocked, what are my options? If I restore it and take it to my local store will they not wonder why it is on the setup screen?

You can check if there's a problem with the SIM card. Remove the SIM card, clean the contacts and make sure you put it back the right way. If that doesn't help I'd suggest that you restore it and take it to the shop.

I don't know what they will say about the restored phone, but personally I always to a full erase on my phone before taking it to the store to make sure that my personal data is properly erased if there is a risk that the store might keep it. If they should ask you about it just tell them it's your employer's security policy that all phones have to be erased before being handled by someone else.

Then how do I go about unlocking it if I get a new one? I bought it unlocked? Is it really that easy to click one button on the ZiPhone program and it will do it all for you?

Thanks for replying. I used ZiPhone 3.0 and it worked fine. Everything seems to be brilliant now, must have been one of the 3rd party apps I had installed that caused the crashing.
