all of a sudden, my iPhone told me my apple Id was locked and needed to sign in. kept sending me in a sign in loop and the log in prompt kept appearing. was able to send the 6 digit ID to my device and it eventually prompted me to reset my password. its been a long time since i logged into or out of my ID on my phone. any reason this happened? i have two factor set up and never got any prompts for unusual log in attempts from anyone who wasn't me.pretty inconvenient. anyone else ever have their apple id randomly lock?

Here's what (I think) happened:
An iCloud account can be used on five devices at a time.
You might either have more than five devices using the account OR you reinstalled your operating system without deauthorizing iTunes.
In both cases you'd have inadvertently activated more than five devices.

One iPhone, one iPod, 2 computers and one iPad and an Apple Watch (don't think that counts) is all I have running. And nothing has changed in months, it randomly said that it was locked.

That's essentially five devices. Where this messes up is usually with iTunes. Did you happen to reinstall it, or reinstall your operating system?

Thanks for the link. However nothing can explain why it locked randomly. That's my main question.
