My friend has an iPhone 11 and recorded a 40 minute speech, but there is a problem. The problem is that when it goes to listen to the recording from the mobile, the iPhone app says it's 40 minutes but only plays 12 minutes. He transfers the file to the Mac and puts it to listen there and the player shows that it is a 12 minute recording. Why on iPhone it shows 40 minutes and only plays 12 minutes, while on Mac it shows 12 minutes? Where did the other 28 minutes go?

Have you used built in microphones ( only phone) or used any connected via lighting ? If second - are you sure battery in this has not depleted?

I have recorded 32 minutes of audio of me when working on computer, everything is working fine, can scroll through all minutes and there are no gaps.
I suppose that maybe some app worked in background and took a microphone?

Personally when I was recording 45-1,5h meetings I just turned on do not disturb and used airplane mode to cut all network / app update problems.
Problems like these were present on Androids when stupid OS to save battery frozen the recording app, but never had this problem on my phone - iPhone 11Pro as well as SE 1gen in the past (I miss you minijack)
