I've known the iPhone to only be refreshed June each year, but the buyer's guide says the average is 178, which would come to an end in early December. Is there any reasonable chance of a (silent, maybe) refresh coming in time for the holidays (despite what the Apple rep said about no new products)?

Thanks,
C

I think something's widely expected in the post-holiday new year, but not before Christmas. But who knows? SD card slots did not have a chance of making it onto Mac notebooks, nor did glossy screens, and yet here we are....

From what I remember, in the past, its just been a small memory bump and a small price drop around the christmas period. Considering that you cant yet get a single 64Gb flash chip to fit the iPhones innards, thats a defo out of the question. There could be a chance of a small price drop, but for some reason i really doubt it at the mo.

Well, my thought is that the statement that there will be no 'new' products, doesn't necessarily mean there won't be a silent refresh of an already existing product.

But point taken, nonetheless.

With one exception, there's been a year between iPhone refreshes.

The one exception was when they reintroduced a "higher capacity" iPhone model again. At that time, there was only the 8GB model, IIRC.

I wouldn't expect a refresh before next summer, but you really never know with Apple. :D

Look at the bars. The average is being brought WAY down from the first year and a half where the capacity and prices kept changing. Since then things have been pretty stable. I seriously doubt there will be any changes until next June/July.
