Does anyone know how to use the new remote feature of the iphone to control shared music on the apple tv?

Thank you!

yes mate

yeah sure mate, this is what you do.

make sure you have the new itunes!

go to preferences and then advanced

select, look for remote speakers with airtunes

and allow itunes to control from remote speakers
also look for iphone & ipod touch remotes.

then on your apple tv i think its under general preferences make sure u have airtunes on.

then open up ur itunes library, make sure u have ur iphone working with the apple tv, and select ur itunes libarary on ur comp from ur phone and on itunes bottom right u should see ur apple tv make sure that is selected. ur good to go then.

no problem, lol if its confusing let me know ill clarify, but thats how it works.

Basically just make sure airtunes is on, on the apple tv, and select ur comps libarry from the phone, and make sure the bottom right has ur apple tv selected in itunes.

ur set then.

Slightly more difficult...

I have a laptop A (with my iTunes library) and laptop B (connected to TV, has iTunes installed, has access to laptop A iTunes shared library).

How can I use my iPhone remote to control the shared library through laptop B? when I link the remote to laptop B's library, laptop A's library (the shared volume) does not show up...

thanks!

Jason

Thank YOU!! Big help. Now I can enjoy my outdoor speaker system from my shared storage of 50 gigs of music. YAY!

hello,
I have set up a itunes server at my house. So that all my remote speakers can be controlled by all computers in the house with all of my music.
Does anyone know if there is a way to control the shared music.
The server is run by firefly.
But i would like to be able to control it from my ipod touch also...
As of now i can only control it from my computers.

Thanks,
Jay

I alsonwould like to know that.

More over, what about shared library of Laptop A streaming to iOS device B, remote controlled by iOS device C?

Julio

connect your remote.app to the computer connected to the TV, hit the more button at the bottom, scroll down, and select "shared" all the shared libraries that you have access to from that computer will show up there.

currently there is no way to control an iPhone/iTouch from another iPhone/iTouch.
(although remote will control an :apple:TV which is also an iOS device)

there is a way to make this work though.

on your laptop run iTunes and airfoil.
on device B run airfoil speakers.
on device C run remote.app, and have it control the laptop.

you then have the audio output from iTunes on your laptop coming out of device B, controlled by device C.
