so i cracked my 3gs screen and they said i would be able to get a new one for 200. Same model. I was wondering would they let me get a white one instead of black that i previously owned. Also if i want a 32 3gs instead of 16gb would the let me pay the difference?

what is the resale value of a white iphones instead of black.

after months will the white turn color? pros? cons?

I'm not sure if they'd let you swap for a different color, but it won't hurt to try! I highly doubt that they'd allow you to pay the difference to get the 32GB.

I would think the resale value wouldn't change between the two, since everything else is the exact same (internals), and I've never heard of the white changing colors after getting dirty. The one thing I heard tons of, however, was the fact that hairline cracks on the white phones are a lot easier to see (obviously) as opposed to the black phones.

It's all just a matter of personal preference, really :)
 
I will say 99%

If the screen is cracked they will just replace the screen. If they replace it then they will replace it with a black 16gb 3gs. Sorry!

All it is is an out of warranty swap. Its the same as an in warranty swap. If they replace it, it will be a refurbished replacement. By there rules, they can only give you the same model and capacity. If you have a 16GB white 3GS, they can only give you another 16GB White 3GS.

You'd rather pay $200 than $30.....really? I am amazed because the install is so freaking easy, that I don't understand why anyone would want to pay more than 6 times the cost.
 
I dont understand why you dont just take a shot and try to fix it yourself. If its out of warranty whats the harm? only $30 screen...
 
well i was gonna fix it myself but what if i do more damage then i cant get the phone replaced? Is the glass the same as the oem glass with the protective coat? plus a new battery?

trust me i rather just save my money but i heard mixed reviews about fixing the glass myself? What aboutthe adhesive? is it a good as the glue?
 
There's places that will do it for $80-100.
If that happened to me I'd go that roote instead of paying $200 and getting a refurb. My 3GS is great, has the old iboot and saved shsh's thru cydia.
 
so what are peoples thoughts on this?

anyone repair there own 3gs?
