I need to exchange my phone. Does anyone know if you need to have all the original packaging / receipt with you, or can I just walk into an apple store and swap it out? Thanks.

if its defective you go to the genius bar and get it swapped. if its not, then bring the whole lot and return it.

bring it all

I actually had to exchange my iPhone because the screen had yellow spots on it. The Apple Store requested that I brought back the box and all original contents. You don't need the receipt. They can look up purchase info by the serial number.

Like everyone else said, BRING EVERYTHING.

They will want the box, phone, manual, and receipt. If you don't have one, you won't get a return, imo.

2 things to keep

Call me wrong, but I did take out the Apple stickers and the cleaning cloth before exchanging my phone. They don't check for that. I have a stack of Apple stickers from every Apple product I have bought and I figured I could use the extra cleaning cloth:)

they'll ask that you provide the box and everything, but they'll still swap it with you even if you don't. you just won't get the dock, usb cable, etc.
