I just downloaded the iPhone SDK. I purchased a MacBook primarily so that I could develop for the iPhone. The MacBook uses bootcamp and so the hard drive is partitioned for Windows or Mac (Leopard).

I have found that the iPhone SDK is a REAL memory hog. There is very little memory left on the Mac partition. I have an external drive that has a lot of extra memory.

Can any part of the iPhone SDK be installed on the external drive instead of hogging all of the memory of my MacBook?

Thanks,
Linda

Hi Linda,

There are instructions in the installation guide for moving/installing XCode and related files to an alternative location - I don't have access to them at the moment, so I can't say for sure that you can move it from the boot volume.

This may be a better question for the official forums (not that Apple themselves will answer)

Phil--
I actually have looked for the official forums. Do you have a link?

Thank you,
Linda
