My iPhone SE 1st gen is on 12.0.1 now. One main thing I want to do in the near future is to jailbreak it so that I can enable the volume buttons to skip tracks when listening to music. Is there is any app/option that will enable it w/o jailbreaking?

If I upgrade to latest iOS,
1) Will be jailbreak option be reduced or harder to do?
2) Will responsiveness / battery life be reduced?

Any other input is appreciated. Thanks!!

You can update. But I’d stick because

a) unsigned versions are rare
b) easy jailbreaking
c) tweak compatibility
d) could have better battery life

Thank you!

You mean the 12.0.1 battery life may be better? Battery life is particularly important since the battery health has reduced to 81%.

Can you please clarify these two points?

a) unsigned versions are rare
c) tweak compatibility

Thanks a lot

Apple signs every version of iOS.
After a new iOS release is out, the previous version becomes “unsigned”
When the version becomes unsigned, you cannot restore or downgrade to it.

If you are on an older version of iOS (in your case iOS 12), and you jailbreak, many tweaks are available.
But if you go on iOS 14 and plan on jailbreaking, there are not very many tweaks to install.
