who else would love there to be “one more thing” today and that one more thing being iPhone SE 2? I know it’s unlikely but I’d loved the smaller phones Apple made

I prefer the smaller form factor myself. Actually my favorite chassis is the 6/7/8.

I don’t think apple would announce a new phones at this time. Too much going on with the current release. I did hear a rumor about a new iPod touch. Maybe it’s not so crazy to see a new iPad mini or iPod touch with an integrated eSim.

I’d loose my mind if apple released a new iPod, that would be so amazing, and would bring back many memories

The current iPod touch likely won’t survive the iOS 13 cuts. I think it’s currently equipped with an A8 and 1gb or RAM. A slight spec bump could keep the product line alive a little longer.

I guess the question is “why” would Apple release a new iPod this day and age? I don’t think the world needs a new iPod... but I think it’s more important for Apple to avoid “Apple kills the iPod” showing up in headlines. Even though we have all been expecting it for years.

Yeah doesn't make sense... why carry an iPod and an iPhone together... when you can get an all-in-one?
For the iPod to be used as a standalone MP3 Player it's pretty expensive for what it really is. Not to mention the camera is mediocre on purpose (from my past usage of iPod touches before jumping ship to an all-in-one iPhone)

Edit: also 4 inch phone is friggin tiny... so i'm glad apple axed it. that was the reason i never bought iPhones in the first place, move on.

iPhones are done for this year.
I'd rather they spend time ironing out the bugs etc with the current ones rather then release new ones!

I could see a new iPhone SE2 (or whatever they might call it) coming out in the Spring. That way it would renew interest in selling iPhones again until the batch of XI's (or whatever they will call them) come out next September.

Probably nothing new in the iPhone world for today's announcement. Unless....headphone jack returns, baby! ;)

I don’t see an SE 2 happening today, or even in the near future. An updated iPod touch and/or iPad mini would be interesting, but I wouldn’t hold my breathe on those either. I do wonder how long they’ll let those two hang around, last being updated in 2015 with the already 1 year old A8 (and neither of them spoken about at an event when they were updated).

Please, not another "Let's raise the alarm and get Apple to keep producing some niche style phone that I like" thread.

;)

It’s quite popular with school kids and runners who don’t want to run with a £1200 phone on their arm. It is also popular with people who can’t afford an iPhone. It will be a sad day when it is discontinued.

I don't think so. Next year if anything. I would't be surprised if they were done with it though, unless it took on the X form factor. I don't see them releasing a new phone with Touch ID again.
