Do we have a sense, based on rumors, whether this upcoming SE will be more durable like the current phones or will it literally be the same outer form factor/durability as the 7/8?

I highly doubt they are going to change much of the phone from what's already offered on the 8 other than the rear camera, SOC and possibility some other internal bits. $399 is what they're rumored to be shooting for so they need to keep costs down

It'll most likely be as durable as the 8 (a phone originally released 2.5 years ago). As a budget-friendly option, this shouldn't be surprising as the original SE had the same form factor and durability as the 5s (a phone originally released 2.5 years earlier).

In terms of durability with a smart phone, All that matters if the phone was in a case and how hard of an impact it lands on a particular surface. All these phones are constructed of fragile elements if they fall from a height unprotected.

If you’re concerned about ‘durability’, purchase a quality case and AppleCare.

In the real world, the older phones are just as durable as the current ones anyway... and easier to repair yourself with basic tools.

As mentioned, anyone worried should get a case, a good screen protector and AppleCare. That’s the same for any iPhone.

Agreed. I've dropped my 8 in it's Spigen case several times without any damage. YMMV.

Drop any phone and you'll find they are breakable, especially the ones sandwiched between glass.

My poor iPhone 8 has been dropped probably a dozen times and it’s still fine. I use a screen protector and a Spigen case. So far so good.

What kind of question is this? No one has the phone yet. The outer is the exact same as the 8.
