Noticed this after iOS17 update, brought into local Apple repair place (Apple have no official store in the ROI) and they said it was a widespread issue they were seeing. It's now become a more pressing issue - want to pass this on to someone who uses NFC-enabled public transportation cards - and before I make a decision, looking to find out if there's any known fix?

I've read about issues with wireless charging in late model BMWs and Toyota Supras causing overheating and frying the NFC chip on various iPhone 15 models. I don't know if it affected some iPhone SE3 phones too, but if you've been wireless charging in one of those vehicles, perhaps that could be the explanation.

The issue with car chargers "Frying" NFC is fixable by a remote re-start through Apple. One would think that an "Official" repair place in Ireland would know of that but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ possibly not. Call AppleCare and verify.

Thanks for that reply - it's possible that this is the root of the problem - I know that if it's complained about overheating on more than one occasion, though primarily from cable-charging while being used as a tethered hotspot
