I bought an iphone se few years ago. Battery was very good. I recalled i would upgrade the IOS due to seeing that annoying message in settings which tells me there is new ios update etc. Im not that familiar with these things but figure... well i should update it... sort of like you updating windows on your computer.
I don't recall what ios i was at the time, i think it was 9? This was a few years ago. I did the upgrade ios few times and then went to 11 and just recently 12.
First off, did me installing the new ios... did this possibly caused my battery to be worst? The thing is i did have this phone for about 2 years already. But im wondering is it possible the IOS upgrade caused this? If so, does that mean me going to apple to get a 29 dollar battery replacement is worthless then? I assume you cannot go back to IOS 9 or whatever it was back then right even if i reset everything? To those of you with the SE, what ios are you using? Anyone here had this phone for 2 years or more and battery is still great? And is the reason due to not updating the IOS?
So what advice do you have here? Get the new battery replacement for 29 dollars... but after that never update IOS any higher than what i have now which is ios 12?
I checked battery health in settings. Shows maximum 86%. I had this phone for about 2 years. So this is about right? In another thread, someone mentioned they had around same maximum capacity and had it for around 2 years etc.
Is there any app one could download to check the battery health or is the settings one in apple the best?
