I busted the front glass on my iPhone SE. Hands down the best phone I have used. I am putting off getting the newer 2018 iPhone models because Im not a fan of Face ID. Is it wise to get an SE after the big announcement in September? Or should I go for the iPhone 8?

If you’re thinking Apple will announce an updated SE in September your going to be very disappointed. You won’t see an update to the SE at least until March 2019 if at all... I’d get an iPhone 8 or get your SE repaired and see what happens in March.

If you like the SE then I say get the screen fixed. I have an 8 and SE and I use the SE almost exclusively as it runs great and has features I like. If you like the SE use it until you don’t like it anymore.

Its very possible the SE could be discontinued after the iPhone Keynote in September, which can impact if you want to have it repaired or purchase a new one. But if it was me, I like the iPhone 8 for what it has to offer, the 4.7 inch model being an excellent size with plenty of upgraded features over the SE.

The Bolded is a bit confusing. Any links to what you’re referring too?

Here it is. He’s a good Twitter follow for insider info. It appeared in XCode’s app thinning options.

Interesting. Perhaps Macrumors will report on this. Would definitely be welcomed by many on here for a refreshed SE.

I figured as much, I know a lot of people are hoping for one.
Count me in !
I was about to pull the trigger re: the iPhone SE!!! Thanks for the tip DNichter !

I'm not buying for the size though but for the huge reduction in price. I already have an iPad 6 for gaming, internet and movie watching. So, I figured I won't lose much if I got a small screened iPhone.

If an updated iPhone SE is released, I will for sure pick one up! I miss the smaller, compact size so much!

If the SE is refreshed for the keynote in a few weeks, this could be the one surprise no one saw coming, even though it’s been speculated for months, that very well could be the Untold moment for the iPhone if it launches, which I’m still doubtful, but I would not expect to include the 3.5 mm Jack though.

Who knows? For sure, it will get a renewed life this year up to next year with iOS 12. We’ll know eventually once iOS 13 beta testing.

I am just wondering how many more years I can get out of the SE before it becomes obsolete....

I would say obsolete and unsupported are two different things. The iPhone could technically be obsolete if Apple discontinues it in September, but will still see iOS support for years to come.

As others have said do a screen repair for about $40. an iPhone 8 costs 20times more.

As Apple still sells the SE I would expect minimum 3 more years of OS updates.
