I bought an iPhone SE from the recent Apple sale ($249) for my son. I just want a cheap phone that he can mainly use for phone calls and texting, but I want to stay with Apple, not Android. I don't think it's possible to get a cheaper iPhone, right? I just hope he can continue to use for a few years, i.e., that it is not already so outdated that it will be obsolete in a year.

A new SE for $250.00 is as cheap as you will find it direct from Apple. The A9 processor is still plenty sufficient and should have at least two more years of updates. It’s a solid phone for the price point offered.
