SE has been discontinued officially by Apple. The cases your referring to were case makers jumping the gun and releasing cases that obviously were made for the 5s/SE but mislabeled as SE2

So I cought wind of a major retailer receiving iPhone cases labeled SE/SE2. (Which are not for sale yet, BTW.)

Anyone hear anything? Darest I raise the glimmer of hope after having my dreams smashed on the rocky shores of a disappointing iPhone event?

You can still purchase the original iPhone SE new through pre-paid retailers, but there is no future currently for the iPhone SE 2 to be renewed. Although, I do suspect Apple may introduce a 5 inch version of an iPhone in the near future.

Looking to purchase IPhone SE for some relatives and was wondering which prepaid providers to go with
Walmart Family Mobile/Tracfone
Simple Mobile
Total Wireless etc. etc.

Bugeye: You think maybe an upgrade for the iPhone 7? It is currently a 4.7” diagonal screen, with case width a bit larger than my beloved SE. If they bring a full screen to the iPhone 7, I would buy it, and my SE, when it passes from this world, would be given a solemn burial ceremony on my 8 acres, where it could be discovered in the far future by whatever sentient creatures evolve to replace us. They will treasure it and probably build a pyramid museum for their kind to marvel at the technology of our primitive species.

I went from the 5s to the 6s in 2015 and I actually liked the slightly bigger phone. I used my 6s until last year and replaced it with the X which I love. I’d say the iPhone 7 or 8 if you want to phone that won’t need replacement for at least 3 years. When you place the SE on top of the 7/8 it really isn’t that much bigger physically.
