Seeing the SE4 will likely get A18, 8GB RAM and support for Apple Intelligence, which the iPhone 15 won't get, would you chose an SE4 over a 15?
Or would you prefer the dual cameras, Dynamic Island etc that the 15 provides?

For me personally this is highly relevant, as my employer now has been forced to offer the 15 instead of the older SE, due to EU making it illegal to sell new devices with lightning. However when the SE4 becomes available it will certainly replace the 15 as the offered company phone.
So... now I need to chose between taking the 15 now or waiting for the SE4.

If it's just your work phone - does it really matter? What do you use as your personal phone?
I use it as my personal phone. Wouldn't want to carry around 2 phones. Also if the screen or battery needs replacement, I don't have to pay for it. 🤷‍♂️

I feel like I'd rather have the SE4 long term... but then my current phone has a broken screen and battery that says "service" + I'll most likely go traveling for a few months shortly so would be nice with a good phone.

So your choices are:
  1. Get iPhone 15 now
  2. Have current phone repaired on company's dime, and get iPhone SE4 later
Correct? I see no drawback to choosing option #2, if you'd rather have the SE4.

Very difficult choice since we know very little about “SE4”…
The SoC could be better than iPhone 15, most probably, but what about everything else ?

Unfortunately #2 is not possible, as it's my own phone. The company only provided the old SE when I started there, so I kept my own XR instead.

Since the SE4 is still an entirely unknown and largely theoretical entity, you'd really be better off just getting the 15 now. 🤓

If you want to wait for it, that's cool, but right now, the SE4 is kind of like the 32-inch iMac: it has a release date of "lol"

It's very simple - if you need new phone now get an iPhone 15, if not, wait few more months until they release the SE4 and see which one you prefer.

Personally I would get the 15
I'm leaning towards that too now. Someone mentioned low light photos, which probably won't be as good in SE. And I do take quite a lot of photo/video at night.

iPhone 15 uses a smaller sensor than iPhone 14 Pro/Max. It's very unlikely Apple will use an even smaller 48MP sensor for SE4. And keep in mind some camera features are rationed based on the SoC. A18 gets more photography features like photographic styles and wind noise reduction compared to A16.

Not sure how the 14 Pro is relevant, the SE won't be based on that.
Whatever sensor was in the base 14 is most likely what will be used.
But Apple software limits things all the time, so we cannot be certain that just because the hardware supports it you'll get the feature.

14 Pro is relevant because it’s 48MP.

It won’t be base 14 because it’s only 12MP.

We know SE4 is 48MP.

For me it comes down to a choice between how you feel about (1) ultrawide/dual cameras (2) the dynamic island and (3) Apple Intelligence.

Seems 2 out of 3 would prefer the SE over the 15.
I guess Apple Intelligence has some interest after all.

Alternatively you can save a little bit more money and get iPhone 16 instead, best of both worlds 😌
