Hi everyone:

I have an older friend that recently bought a 3g Iphone. He called me this morning asking how to set it up. I told him he had to download Itunes and then follow the step by step instructions. I just got off the phone with him and he said that before he was able to download Itunes he paid for a one year subscription.....for around 20 or 30 dollars. Now I don't have a 3g Iphone I have the original one but I don't remember paying for a subscription for anything related to Itunes. I am wondering if anyone knows what this subscription was that he bought. He lives about 30 minutes from me so I have no idea what he did, but said he downloaded straight from apple. If anyone has any idea what this subscription is it would help alleviate the anxiety that he has done something wrong.

Thanks

As far as I know there is no subscription service with iTunes. I know there is nothing in regards to music, and I'm sure there is nothing with movies and television. They work on a pay-as-you-go model. There is a subscription for MobileMe so perhaps that's what your friend has. Being a member of that does a few things but in regards to the iPhone, it does synch your calendars, address book contacts, and safari bookmarks. There are other things you can do such as uploading photos to online galleries etc.
